This is a book in Reuters' training series. It is an excellent introduction to the foreign exchange and money markets. It is easy to read with lots of graphics and little text. It is practical, and extremely interesting for anyone who is new to this material. The book gives about equal attention to foreign exchange and money market instruments. You learn about the history of these markets, the factors that determine prices, trading conventions, standard instruments and the variety of risks the instruments entail. In one section, you follow a variety of professionals through a "typical" day. Another explains the hand signals used by futures traders. Still another lets you "listen" in on actual trades being executed ... explaining what the parties are saying as well as their jargon.

I highly recommend this book for financial professionals who have no experience with the foreign exchange or money markets—especially beginning traders and risk managers. It is excellent for systems professionals or auditors. It will also be valuable to corporate end-users, even those who have some familiarity with the markets but who want a better understanding of how dealers think and operate.
